James E. Friar – Obituary

James E. Friar, 85, of Killen, AL, passed away July 17, 2012, after an extended illness. He was retired from Reynolds Metals and a World War II Army Veteran. In the past, Mr. Friar was very active at Rogers High School, serving as a School Trustee, President of the Band Boosters Club, and a member of the Athletics Boosters.

 

Mr.  Friar is survived by his son Gary Friar; daughters, Sheila Friar Shelton (Dr. Monty Shelton) of Florence and Laura Friar Campbell (Craig Campbell) of Center Star and  grandchild, Robin Lea Campbell.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Bradley (O.B.) and Irma Stutts Friar; and his wife of 57 years Jean Kennedy Friar.

 

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 5:30-8:00 P.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Randy Burbank and Dr. Monty Shelton officiating. The burial will be in Emmaline Stutts Cemetery.

 

 

The family wishes to extend our deepest appreciation to Linda Behel, Phyllis Hamilton, Judy Smith, and Trish Wilson for their dedicated special loving care. They would also like to thank Dr. Aquadro for his care through the years and to Dr. Webb, nurses and staff of Hospice of the Shoals for their help and care for the past two years.

Family requests in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Shoals or Emmaline Stutts Cemetery fund.
