James Delbert Williams – Obituary

James Delbert Williams 81, of Huntsville, AL, passed away Saturday, December 31, in Huntsville, AL after a short illness. Mr. Williams was born in Huntsville, AL, on November 6, 1935. He graduated from Huntsville High School in 1953. On June 2, 1956, he married Ethel Ann Biles of Decatur, AL which began a long and happy marriage over 60 years. In 1957 he graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He retired after 30 years of service with Army Missile Command as Deputy Director of Systems Engineering Production Directorate. He was a founding member of Twickenham Church of Christ where he served as elder for 23 years. Mr. Williams loved serving the church and Jesus Christ. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Ann Williams; sister, Marjorie Williams; daughters, Tami Segrest and husband, Dr. Lee Segrest, and Teri Pape and husband, Jim Pape; only granddaughter, Whitney Pape; grandsons, Alan Segrest and wife, Kimberly, Dr. Rob Segrest and wife, Jennifer, and Ross Pape; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, at Twickenham Church of Christ. The funeral service will follow at the church with Lincoln Smith and Alan Segrest officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Huntsville Inner City Learning Center, 2450 Brahan Avenue Huntsville, AL 35805 or to His Way Recovery Center 582 Shields Rd, Huntsville, AL 35811.
The family is very appreciative of the prayers and support of wonderful neighbors and friends.
