James Dale Spencer – Obituary

 James Dale Spencer, 82, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at his home. He was born March 27, 1935 to James and Janetta Spencer.

 

After high school, James moved to Illinois where he owned and operated a Shell service station. He then moved down to Fulton to start his own meat business, eventually opening Spencer’s Meats in 1979. James was also the owner and operator of Spencer’s Speedway.

 

James is survived by six children, Brent Spencer (Janice) of Birmingham, Karen Aprahamian (George) of Kingsport, Tenn., Susan Gray (David) of Charleston, South Carolina, Leia Spencer-Shelton of Tupleo, Landon Spencer of Plano, Texas and Adam Spencer of Mooreville; brothers, Delmus Spencer, H. A. Spencer (Judy) and O’Neal Spencer (Kay), all of Itawamba County; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lanette Spencer; and brother, Dean Spencer.

 

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2017 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.

 

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors. Burial will be in Hardin’s Chapel Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be Ken Pearson, Kim Turner, Ray Carroll, Justin Burleson, Landon Spencer and Brandon Shelton.
