James Cloyd “Jim” Underwood age 79, of Killen, died Monday, March 25, 2013. Visitation will be Thursday, March 28, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Spry~Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Brother Phil Cooper officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah Cemetery. Jim was a fisherman and an avid Alabama fan. He was retired from the City of Florence Street Department and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Florence. He was preceded in death by his mother of his children, Janice O’dell Underwood. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Underwood; children, Dennis Underwood,Peggy Burch (Terry), Steve Underwood (Brenda), Jacqueline Vandivort (Steve), Paula Holden (Troy), Bobbie Underwood, Jeannie Kerr, and James C. Underwood, Jr.; Glen Underwood, Gary, Underwood, Dennis Ray Underwood, Shelby Landinger, and Toni Smith. 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
