James Cleveland “J.C.” Torrence

 James Cleveland “J.C.” Torrence, 69, passed away Monday, May 25, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Red Bay, AL, to William Elmer Torrence and Minnie Lou Brown Torrence. He honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Walker Baptist Church. He worked as a truck driver for many years.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 4:00 P.M. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS, with Bro. Andy Barnett officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00–4:00 P.M. at Deaton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS, will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his mother, Minnie Lou Torrence; three children, Mallory Wooten (Zac), Dustin Osbirn (Amanda), and Michael Osbirn; six grandchildren, Dakota, Emma and Eli Osbirn, Walker, Jaycee and Hayes Wooten; a special niece, Lindsey Shields; an uncle, Big Bud Brown; and an aunt, Nell Wells.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Darlene Torrence and his father.

Pallbearers will be William Gasaway, Cody Shields, Kenny Ewing, Tyler Wooten, Kaleb Barnett, Terry Gann, Chuck Humphres, Pete Blanton, and Jeff Brown.  Honorary pallbearer will be Graylin Cromeans.
