James Claude Durbin, Jr. was born July 11, 1933 in McNairy County, TN, the son of the late James Claude Durbin and Giffie Mae Hardwick Durbin.
On September 13, 1952, James married the love of his life, Elizabeth Mullins. He was a member of the Gravel Hill Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a hard working man that, over the years, worked as a Residential Painter, Gas Station Attendant, Roofer, and Mechanic for Ford Motor Company.
James enjoyed riding horses and train mules. He loved barbeque, hot tamales, and homemade ice cream. He loved to have all the kids come to the house and spend the day. He enjoyed friends coming to visit.
James’s legacy is one of love, hard work, and the joy of togetherness, and he will be fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
Mr. Durbin departed this life on October 10, 2024 in Guys, Tennessee at the age of 91 Years, 2 Months, 29 Days.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Durbin of Guys, TN; children: Pam Hatcher Briggs and husband Eddie of Corinth, MS, Michael Durbin of Ramer, TN, Angie Robertson and husband Scottie of Ramer, TN; four grandchildren: Gayla Boyer, Cade Hatcher and wife Marley Sue, Whitney Butler and husband Ben of Ramer, TN, Zach Lambert of Ramer, TN; seven great grandchildren: Connar Boyer and wife MacKenzie, Ella Boyer of Corinth, MS, Willow Hatcher of Corinth, MS, Annabelle Hatcher of Corinth, MS, Annie Butler, Mary Lou Butler, John Arthur Butler all of Ramer, TN; a great great grandchild, Adeline Boyer; a sister, Mary Dixon of Amherst, OH; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Durbin was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Durbin; three brothers: Ernest, Dewey, and Hewis Durbin.
