James Charles Maddox, of Summertown, Tennessee, passed away on August 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 9, 1944, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.
James will be remembered as a man who found joy in simple pleasures and in the people around him. He loved fishing and was a devoted fan of John Wayne. He also enjoyed doing projects around his home, always finding purpose in working with his hands and caring for the place he loved. Beyond his hobbies and interests, James was a father figure to many, offering steady presence, guidance, and warmth to those fortunate enough to know him.
His family was an important part of his life, and his memory will be cherished by those who survive him. He is lovingly remembered by his son, Author “Bubba” Maddox, and by his daughters, Tiffany (Kelly) Beasley and Ruby Coree Maddox. He also leaves behind a treasured circle of grandchildren: Halle Maddox, Kelly (Jabrina) Beasley III, Kasey Beasley, Kristopher Beasley, James Miguel, JoAnna Hernandez, and her father Juan Hernandez. Each of them carries forward memories of his love, his character, and the special place he held in their lives.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannie Maddox, Charles Jose Maddox and 5 sisters. Their memories remained part of the story of his life and are now joined with his once more.
