James Charles “J.C.” Yancey, Sr., age 99, Russellville, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Burns Nursing Home.

J.C. proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He and his wife, Marie, have been members of the First United Methodist Church of Russellville since 1946. He worked as a bookkeeper administrator for the medical clinic and hospital for many years. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much and will be missed by all who knew him.

The visitation will be 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at First United Methodist Church of Russellville, with the funeral following at 11:00 a.m. Bro. Clint Busler will officiate the service. Burial will be at Franklin Memory Gardens with full military honors.

He is survived by his son, James Charles Yancey, Jr. (wife, Gail), of Phil Campbell; daughter, Brenda Yancey Crouch (husband, Carl), of Holt, Michigan; 6 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lou McKinney, of Anniston and Becky McBride of Birmingham; and a host of nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by wife, Marie Rogers Yancey; parents, Homer & Jessie Yancey; and sister, Dorothy Hughes.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Burns Nursing Home, Shoals Hospice, also to Dr. Almirol, Dr. Mann, and Dr. Young, for the love and care shown to our father. The family would also like to thanks the many friends at First United Methodist Church of Russellville for the countless visits, prayers, meals, and caring thoughts you gave to our family.
