The funeral service for James Carrell Pinkston Jr., age 75 of Lineville, will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Rev. Claude Bennett and Rev. Scott Jordan officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Millerville Community Cemetery.
Mr. Pinkston passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Lineville Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was a native of Clay County and a former resident of Louisiana, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina but returned to Clay County in 1994. He first served in the Alabama Army National Guard then transferred to the U.S. Navy. Mr. Pinkston was a Vietnam War veteran. Mr. Pinkston worked as a truck driver for over 35 years and loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Pinkston had been attending County Line Baptist Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Pamela Miles (Jimmy) of Ashland; two sons: Lee Pinkston (Roxanne) of Centerville and Craig Pinkston of Anniston; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Pinkston was preceded in death by his parents: James Carrell Pinkston Sr. and Inis Kilgore Pinkston; two sisters: Jewell and Margaret and two brothers: Kermit and Gary.
Jesse Miles, Dylan Miles, Tony Shively, Justin Pinkston, Steve Moore, Steven Miles, Tony Miles and Luke Miles will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
