Obituary of James Carlton Jenkins Sr.James Carlton (J.C.) Jenkins, Sr., a longtime resident of Decatur, AL was born on June 9, 1942, in Ripley, TN to the late James and Juanita Jenkins. J.C. passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home on June 6, 2025, at the age of 82.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce; children: Carla Dugger (Richie), Jay Jenkins (Sheri) and Ty Jenkins; grandchildren: Zak (Jada) Dugger, Max Dugger, Tre Jenkins, Tyson Jenkins, Grayson Jenkins, and Rachael (Will) Burcham; great-grandchildren: Lyza Dugger, Noah Penn, Cahnan Wallace and Armorie Wallace; brothers: Eunice (Debby) Jenkins and Rick (Donna) Jenkins and numerous nieces and nephews.

J.C. was a 1960 graduate of Ripley (TN) High School and maintained close friendships with his fellow classmates. After graduation he served in the Tennessee National Guard. In 1968 he moved to Decatur, AL to work for Amoco Chemicals where he retired as a foreman after 30 years.

He enjoyed coaching his sons in Dixie Youth baseball and Pop Warner football and being on the “chain gang” when his sons played football for Austin High School. He also enjoyed working on classic cars, traveling and RV camping. But his most treasured time was with his family sharing his many, very detailed stories.

J.C. will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He will forever be etched in the memories of those who knew and loved him.

A visitation for J.C. will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 2:45 PM at Roselawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
