James “Bubby” Harold Dunlap passed away at home on Friday, July 4, 2014 at the age of 85.
Mr. Dunlap was preceded in death by his parents; Newell and Mamie Dunlap, a son: Tim Dunlap, a granddaughter: Madison Meigs Dunlap.
James is survived by his loving Wife, Margaret Aline Dunlap, of 65 years. They were married in Iuka MS.
James is loving remembered by his children: Mike Dunlap, Lisa Albert (Johnny Albert), Jeff Dunlap (Debbie Dunlap), and daughter-in-law: Nancy Dunlap (Tim Dunlap), all of Decatur, AL ; his grandchildren: MaeBec Halbrooks, Alyson Ellis, Jack Albert, Jonathan Dunlap, Clint Dunlap, and Sam Albert; his great grandchildren: Darby, Reese and Avery Ellis, Maggie and Gunner Halbrooks, Lincoln Dunlap, and Sawyer Albert; his sister and brother, Vera Miller and Tommie Dunlap; one niece and nephew.
He was born October 6, 1928, in Falkville, AL. He graduated from Falkville High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Navy and was retired from Wolverine Tube. Other jobs included Decatur Harbor Master, Metro Trenching and Irrigation, Decatur Housing Authority, Sears and more recently Decatur City Schools. He enjoyed serving as Youth Director and member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church. He was a long time member of the Civitan Club and served a term as North Alabama Civitan Governor.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Peck Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 4:30 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeff Sellers and Bro. Matt Nail officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing, then a family graveside service at 5:30PM.
James’ family would like to thank everyone for their many kindnesses. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to remember James with a memorial to Ninth Street United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Scott Ellis, Chad Halbrooks, Jack Albert, Jon Dunlap, Clint Dunlap, and Sam Alber.
