James Bradley Putman, 79, of Lexington, AL, passed away December 14, 2012 after a brief illness. Mr. Putman was a retired iron worker at Reynolds and Brown’s Ferry TVA and a member of the Iron Workers Local Union. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Putman was also a member of the Nebo Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a 53 year member of the Woodsman of the World.
In his younger years, Mr. Putman was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed farming, raising cattle and growing vegetables, most of which he gave away.
Survivors include:
Brother: Kenneth Ray Putman and beloved companions Prissy Lee Putman and Rocky Lee Putman, brothers Travis Putman, Elvis Putman, and Mayburn Putman (Betty).
Sister: Sue Putman Nix
Sister-in-law: Ann Putman
Special Niece and Nephew: Tracy deClermont and Tim Nix
Nephews: Donnie Putman, Danny Nix, Greg Putman, and Keith Putman
Nieces: Linda Hammond, Nancy Hobley, Regina Smith, and Dedi Putman
Great-nephews: Don Putman, William Scoggins, Mitchum Smith and Ricky Nix
Great-nieces: Tammy Davis, Melissa Bailey, Misty Burnette, Kendra Hammond, and Breanna Nix

Mr. Putman was preceded in death by his parents, Hartie Franklin and Clara Lena Ritter Putman; sister Carine Nix (Leon); brothers Hartie Jr. Putman, Sedric “Ted” Putman (Elora), and Hulon Putman (Margery); niece Paulette Hubbard; and brother-in-law Jim Nix.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 5-8:00 P.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Nebo Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Bro. Terry Herston and Bro. Waylon Hill officiating. The casket will lie in state at the church from 1-2:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Nebo Cemetery with full military honors.
The pallbearers will be Tim Nix, Danny Nix, Johnny Henson, Johnny Wayne Putman, Charles Beavers, Larry Newton, Bobby Howard, and David Ray White. Honorary pallbearers will be Grant Roberson, C.L. Hubbard, Bobby Roberson, Kim Roberson, Martin Cox, Conrad Joiner, Brian Allen, David Thigpen, Greg Thigpen, William Scoggins, Don Putman, Leland Balch, Gary Campbell, Steve Littrell, and Curtis Ritter.
The family would like to send thanks to all our friends, church members, and people in the community for the cards, food,and visits during Bradley’s illness. They would also like to send special thanks to the Emergency Room workers at ECM, the nurses on 3rd West, the nurses on 6th West, Dr. McFall, Dr. Hagler, Dr. Webb, Dr. Sago, and Dr. Mishra.
