James Boyd Ringnell – Obituary

James James Boyd Ringnell, 75, of Florence, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013, at home, surrounded by his family.    He was born in Amarillo, Texas on August 21, 1937.  He was preceded in death by his father, E. M. “Jack” Ringnell and his mother, Martha Boyd Ringnell of Winter Park, FL.

 

He is survived by wife, Arah N. Porch Ringnell, sister, Karin D’Aurora of Winter Park, Florida, daughters, Laura Connolly (Chris) of Florence, Leslie Rose (Doug) of Atlanta, grandchildren Christie and  Jamie Connolly , Thompson and Tanner Rose.

 

He graduated from Tullahoma High School and attended the University of North Alabama.  He was retired from Reynolds Metals Company.  He was a member of UNA Sportsman’s Club, North Wood United Methodist Church, and its Homebuilder’s Sunday School Class.  He loved watching UNA, Auburn and Alabama football and the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed playing golf with the men from church and his grandchildren.  Marion Darby and Ralph Wallace witnessed w his “hole in one” at Blackberry Golf Course in 2002.

 

Jim enjoyed listening to jazz music and attending the Handy Music Festival.  Most days, he could be seen with his coffee shop buddies, especially talking with Jim Newman.  Thanks for the CUP.  He enjoyed making people laugh and his sweet smile was contagious.

 

The family would like to thank Dr. Brown, Dr. Hester and Dr. Haggstrom.  “George” wanted special thanks sent to Northwest Alabama Cancer Center doctors and nurses. The family would like to thank friends and family for the prayers, love and support during his illness.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Shoals, North Wood Prayer Garden Fund or your favorite charity.

 

A Memorial Service will be at North Wood United Methodist Church on Monday August 5th at 1:00 p.m.  with inurnment in the Prayer Garden.  The family will greet friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
