James “Bentley” Wimbs

Funeral service for James “Bentley” Wimbs, 84, will be Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Phil Lawrence officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  Burial will be in Shiloh Baptist Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Wimbs died on Monday, July 4, 2022 at his residence.  He was born September 19, 1937, in Lawrence County to John  Russell Wimbs and Julie Arlela Holcomb Wimbs.  Mr. Wimbs was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ferrell Wimbs and Travis Wimbs; four sisters, Margaret Wimbs Bell, Velman Wimbs Creel, Norine Wimbs and Luda Taylor.

“Bentley” was lovingly called “Pa” by all the children that loved to stay at and play at their house. Kolin and Kole were the light of his life. Hunter, Braden, Carson, Harley, and Kooper were what made him smile. He loved to stay busy working on his place and visiting with anyone who had time to talk. Mr. Wimbs retired from working in assembly at the John Blue Company.

Survivors include:

Wife – Mary Wimbs

Daughter – Amber Owen (Mike)

Brother – Neville Wimbs

Two Sisters – Thelma Webb and Vivian Lynn (Albert)

Family and Friends will serve as Pallbearers.
