James B. Kerins Sr. (Jim) went to his heavenly home at the age of 82 on
August 1, 2014 at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Catherine Kerins.
Mr. Kerins was born to Donald and Amelda Connor Kerins April 27, 1932 in Carbondale Pennsylvania.
Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Barbara Woods Kerins; children: Jackie Frugoli (Mike)Morris Al, Patsy Pilgreen (Rick) Morris AL, Jim Kerins Jr. (Darenda)Pinson AL, Terri Womack (Tom)Grand Island Nebraska, Steve Woods (Kristi) Orange Beach AL; grandchildren: James Kerins (Sarah), Tom Kerins, Kevin Pilgreen (Whitney), Kristen Bratton (Dusty); great grandchildren: Max and Axle Kerins, Ellie Pilgreen and Haley Kerins.
A Korean War Veteran, he proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. After retiring from Sears with 20 years of service, he enjoyed a multitude of hobbies and interests including Ham Radio (WD4NVH), wood working, and sitting on his front deck in Cedar Cove. He was also an award winning harmonica player. Visitation will be held at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 9:30 AM with funeral services following at 11:00 AM, and a graveside service at Oakland Cemetery in Birmingham at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the American Heart Association.
