James-Weaver-1463765860James B. “Jim” Weaver, 88 of Union Grove, Alabama (Union Chapel Community) died Thursday – May 19, 2016 at his residence.
Jim was born on July 26, 1927 in Bogota Tennessee, to James Rufus Weaver & Mary Ethel Reagan Weaver. He served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy. He and his wife of 63 years, Peggy Ruth Fussell Weaver, moved to Arab in 1961, they also lived in Morgan County before moving to Union Grove. He retired from Redstone Arsenal – Missile Command. Jim was ordained in 1964 as a Baptist Minister; he served as pastor at Beech Springs Baptist Church and later at Highland Baptist Church. He served as interim pastor for several different churches in the Marshall County area.
Mr. Weaver was a member of First Baptist Church Union Grove.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Weaver; son: Jimmy Weaver; daughters: Lynn Hyatt (Tony), Myra Weaver, Belinda Bowman, Susie Copeland, Sharon Kirby (Ken); eleven grandchildren: Jeff Scott, Sam & Adam Hyatt, Robert Law, John Murphy, P.J. Murphy, Larry Weaver, Tyler & Taylor Kirby, Trevor & Jeff Weaver; seven great grand children: Cassie & Andrew Barton, Connor Murphy, Judd Weaver, Drake Hyatt, Lori Williamson & Alexia Scott; one brother: William R. Weaver. He was preceded in death by his parents: James Rufus Weaver & Mary Ethel Weaver; a son: Jonathan David Weaver; brothers: Vernon Weaver, Gene Weaver, Lynn Weaver; grandson: Aaron Murphy; granddaughter: Barbie Law and son-in-law: Steve Copeland.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday – May 23, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Ken Kirby, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Scott, Adam Hyatt, Robert Law, John Murphy, Larry Weaver and Tyler Kirby.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Monday May 23, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel prior to the service.
