James Austin “Bugg” Potts, age 52, a resident of Ethridge, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at his residence. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brandon Cochran officiating. A visitation will also be held on Friday from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on October 2, 1971, in Columbia, Tennessee, James was the son of the late Cleve Austin Potts and the late Sally Jane Pruitt Potts. He worked for Gibson Brothers Scrap Metal in Columbia for many years and later worked for Rich’s Plumbing. A true outdoorsman, James loved to hunt and fish. He had a great personality, always joking around with others and also enjoyed playing cards and chess. He is survived by his life partner, Anette Ware of Ethridge, TN, sons, Jacob Potts of Lawrenceburg, TN, Justin Potts of Lawrenceburg, TN, brothers, Charles “Tony” Potts of Columbia, TN, Phillip Dale Potts of Columbia, TN, two grandchildren, niece, Judy Ann (Gary “Pork”) Jentik, nephew, Norman Anthony “Bubba” Potts, aunt, Patricia Westmoreland, uncle, Jimmy Pruitt, five great nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Austin Potts, and brother, William Allen Potts.
