James Arthur “Jimmy” Wallace – Obituary

James Arthur “Jimmy” Wallace, age 74, of Cherokee passed away Friday, April 21, 2017. Visitation will be Sunday, April 23rd from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will be Monday, April 24th at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Cherokee with Scott Livingston and Steve Slaton officiating. He will lie-in-state from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery.

Jimmy was a native of Cherokee and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, A1C Jimmy Wallace USAF ADC 32nd Norad 1961-1965. He was retired from Reynolds Metals and a member of First Baptist Church of Cherokee.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Eltie Wallace and grandson, Zachary Wallace.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Nancy Waldrep Wallace; sons, Rod Wallace and wife Pam of Muscle Shoals and Andy Wallace and wife Kristi of Tuscumbia; daughters, Tara Wadkins and husband Dale of Iuka and Jamie Crocker and husband David of Cherokee; brother, Albert Wallace; sisters, Pat Harrison and Jeanette Taylor; grandchildren, Justin Rutland, Josh Wadkins, Erin Wallace, Alyssa Wallace, Drew Wallace, Kaitlyn Wallace, Luke Wallace, Austin Crocker, and Emily Crocker; 2 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Laurence Harrell, Russ Logan, Darren Wallace, Nelson Wallace, Steve Pickering, Ronnie Askew, Mike Worsham, Paul Malone, Jimmy Tapp, and Malcolm Wallace. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Nunley, Johnny Wallace, Zac Hamilton, Lee Helton, Parker Harrell, and JJ’s Breakfast Club.

The family expresses special thanks to Drs. Andre Taylor and Lynn Ridgeway, the nursing staff of Helen Keller PCU, and the staff of Helen Keller Wellness Center.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Compassion Outreach Ministry of First Baptist Church of Cherokee or Cooking Angels Ministry of Harris Chapel Baptist Church.
