James Arthur Capps, 71, of Iuka, Mississippi, died on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. When James was younger, he served in the United States Army. He was a man of many talents and worked many jobs. He did construction and carpentry, but his favorite was working on gaming machines, like Pacman and poker games. In his free time, James enjoyed flea markets and yard sales, and he loved setting up at Ripley’s First Monday. He was a member of Grissom Chapel Holiness Church and enjoyed attending when he could. James is survived by his stepdaughter, Cristie Gaston (Calvin); his step-grandchildren, Shelby Gordan (Levi), Shanna Hatfield (Dustin), Nikki Duda, and Brandon Duda; his many step-great-grandchildren; his niece, Carisea Clendenin (Mark); his nephew, Roger Wilson; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Capps; his parents, Artie Capps and Dixie Smith; and his brother, Lenny Capps (Linda). Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Interment will be in Grissom Chapel Cemetery. Memorials may be made in James’ honor to Grissom Chapel Holiness Church.
