James Albert Carmean of Albertville passed away September 3, 2021. He was 89 years old. He served 12 years in the Air Force, during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He spent basic training in Texas and supply school in Colorado. He was stationed in Indiana, Germany, Ohio, Florida, Georgia, Okinawa and TDY in Spain, New York, Greece, Kwajalein and Brazil. He was awarded 5 medals and 1 ribbon (Army German Occupation, Nation Defense, Army Good Conduct with 3 loops, Air Force Good Conduct, Air Force Longevity with 1 cluster and Air Force Outstanding Unit Ribbon with 1 cluster. He spent most of his life in the southern states and military. Mr. Carmean retired from GTE Directory Co. as a Yellow Pages Representative. He won salesman of the year in the Atlanta Division, the President’s award 3 times, the GTEC Hall of Fame Ring and numerous other awards. Mr. Carmean love read, watch tv, movies, local news, sports, and world news. He and Fran Shelton Carmean had married for 39 years. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio the son of Pauline & Albert Carmean. He graduated at Bellefontaine High School in 1950 and attended Ohio University. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Dallas Sherry Chastain of Los Angels, CA and a son Richard Scott Carmean of Douglas, AL; 3 step daughters Linda Alldridge of Albertville, Rhonda Thompson of Birmingham, and Martha Watson of Mount Olive, AL; 8 step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Frances (Shelton) Carmean; parents Pauline and Albert Carmean; sisters Sarah Jean Dodge and Louise Jantho; brothers Cletis Carmean and Bobby Carmean. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. Bro: Justin Childers officiating. Family will receive friend from 1:00 pm til the time of service, burial will follow at Taylor Cemetery.
