Ms. Jacqueline Vashti Adams-Chandler Jacqueline Vashti Adams-Chandler was born on August 5, 1953. In Memphis, TN to the late Jesse and Esther V. Adams. Jacqueline was the seventh of nine children. She peacefully departed this life on Friday, April 19, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Jesse Adams and Esther Adams; four sisters; one brother; children’s father Floyd Chandler, as well as her nephew Derrick Pollard.

Jacqueline accepted Christ at an early age in Memphis, TN, at metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. She successfully received her Bachelor of Political Science and Geography at Tennessee State University (TSU) in 1975. Shortly after, she went to University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to receive her certification in secondary education in 1976 from there Jacqueline worked for Chattanooga School Systems. She worked in the Chattanooga, TN school district from December 1980 to September 1997. She dedicated 16 years of working at TVA/Sequoia/Alen Fossil Plant and Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. Thereafter, she worked various jobs to take care and support her family. In November 2002 Jacqueline started to work at Huntsville City Schools where she was formerly employed at West Huntsville and AAA. During some summers she would even teach summer schools to help students further their education and become successful. Jacqueline was not only just a mom, aunt, and grandmother, she was also a successful educator in believing that every student should have love, the proper education, and accurate resources to succeed after graduating.

Jacqueline’s hobbies were teaching, cooking, shopping, and collaborating with friends and family.

Jacqueline leaves to cherish her loving memories: her children: Diana Chandler and Floyd Chandler, both of Huntsville, AL; one granddaughter Azaria McLin; three sisters: Gale Adams and Betty Adams, both of Huntsville, AL, Juanita Smith (Eugene), of Memphis, TN; two nephews, William Adams and Lois Dunlap (Charmayne), both of Memphis, TN; two nieces, Ursula Adams (Houston, TX), Keisha Adams (Memphis, TN); two great nephews, Isaiah Adams (Dallas, TX) Amoree Dunlap; one great niece, Payton Dunlap; special lifelong friends: Linda Kay Rollings (Memphis, TN), Yvonne Mee (Ooltewah, TN),  Allene Strickland (Chattanooga, TN), Mary Atkins and Katherine Bibb, both of Huntsville, AL, Karen Hill (Greenbrier, AL), Mary Goodwin, along with many more.

The funeral service Ms. Jacqueline Vashti Adams-Chandler’s will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church (3509 Blue Spring Road, Huntsville, AL 35810) with Dr. Don Darius Butler officiating. Interment will be in the New Park Cemetery in 4536 Horn Lake Road Memphis, TN 38109 at 12:00 noon, Monday, May 6, 2024. Ms. Adams-Chandler will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

The Adams-Chandler family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Royal Chapel of Memories.

Public viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2024 and 8:30 until 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Royal Funeral Home.
