Funeral service for Brother Jackie Shelton, 74, Muscle Shoals, will be Saturday, April 6, at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Brother Neil Carter, Brother Jamin Grubbs and Brother Harry Davis officiating and Elliott Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be at Moulton Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 6, 2013, from noon to 3 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Brother Shelton, who died on April 2, 2013, was born in Lawrence County to Ernest and Hilda Elkins Shelton on November 21, 1938. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Martha Faye Smith.

Brother Jackie was a graduate of Lawrence County High School. He attended Auburn University for two years and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1962. He did graduate work at Ole Miss and was part owner of Sivley Cotton Co. in Hartselle until 1976, when he felt the call from God to enter the ministry. He graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His first pastorate was for four and a half years at Steep Hollow Baptist Church in Mississippi and then 24 and a half years at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Moulton, Ala.

Brother Jackie had a deep love for Lawrence County and even deeper love for his Lord and family.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ben-Ann; and his sons, Stuart (Teresa), Brett (Elisabeth), Ben (Lori); grandchildren, Adam (Christina), Amy, Blake, Samantha, Emma Kate, Hudson; great-grandchildren, Coleen and Olivia; siblings, Bill Shelton (Avonne), Betty Smith and Jeanne Hurst.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Coffey, Derek Proctor, John Cross, Mark Montgomery, Bobby Parker, Don Jackson, Mark Dutton and Leonard Pearson.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and staff of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
