Jackie Lee Meeks, 62, of Owens Cross Roads passed away on Thursday.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Mae Cross Meeks and father Carl Meeks, sisters Bonnie Sue Cloud and Shelby Jean Maples, and brothers James Meeks and Billy Joe Meeks.

Jackie is survived by his sister, Judy Wilson (Dan), his brother John Meeks, a host of nieces and nephews that he loved as his own, and many special friends that he loved so much. Jackie was born on June 17, 1961 to Ida Mae and Carl Meeks. He was the youngest of 7 children and he graduated from New Hope High School with the Class of 1979. To know Jackie was to love him, he was a generous man with a sense of humor that was second to none. He worked hard at a job he loved, and always had a smile to share and a joke to tell. Jackie had a kind heart like no other, and will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him.

Jackie was a gifted and creative man, who loved to use his camera to capture special moments and sketch them, as well. He entered contests and was awarded for his work, Jackie even fulfilled a dream of his to be involved as an extra in a movie. He loved adventure and spending time with the people that he loved most. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Huntsville Hospital for taking excellent care of Jackie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Huntsville Downtown Rescue Mission, an organization that Jackie loved to support.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home.
