Funeral service for Jackie G. Holmes, 72, of Decatur, will be Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at noon at Roselawn Funeral Home with Rev.Harold Fanning and Rev. Bobby Newman officiating. Burial will be in Burningtree Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
Mr. Holmes died Sunday April 30, 2017, at NHC Nursing Facility. He was born Jan. 20, 1945, in Morgan County to A.L. Holmes and Itaska Blankenship Holmes. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Sonny Holmes and Mark Holmes; and one sister, Joy Holmes Ellis.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Gwen Randolph Holmes; one daughter, Decatur City Councilwoman, Paige Holmes-Bibbee (Brent); two granddaughters, Katheryn (Katie) Elease Bibbee and Caroline Grace Bibbee; three brothers, Philip Holmes (Jimmie), Michael Holmes and Tim Holmes (Carla); two sisters, Nancy Holmes Parker and Rachel Holmes Shores (Al). Also, many wonderful nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
Pallbearers will be Decatur City Firefighters.
The family would like to say a special Thank You to the kind people with Alacare Home Health and Hospice and the NHC nursing facility for the love and support they have given to our family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Decatur City Fire Department Brothers for Life Fund, P.O. Box 505, Ardmore, AL 38449 in Jackie’s name.
