Jackie Bedford McMurtry Sr

Age 83 of Cottontown passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 at his home. He was born October 7, 1937 in Indianapolis, IN to Robert Lee & Maude Mae Cole McMurtry. He worked as a sprinkler fitter for the Local 669 Sprinkler Fitter’s Union until his retirement. Mr. McMurtry was a Mason and a 50 year member of the Burton Lodge, the Local #669 Sprinkler Fitters Union and Walnut Grove UMC Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and sports. He had coached little league baseball and football. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Craig Randall McMurtry; son-in-law, Christopher John Midgett; two sisters, Viva Lois Savage and Evelyn Crew; one infant sibling. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 61 years, Lollie McMurtry, Cottontown, TN; son, Jackie B. McMurtry, Jr. Cross Plains, TN; daughter, Teresa Michelle “Missy” Midgett, Cottontown, TN; sister, Peggy Young, Goodlettsville, TN; two grandchildren, Jonathan Cody Midgett and Chase Randall Midgett; one great-grandchild, Cadence Rose Midgett; five special nieces, Pat Gammons, Sharon Groves, Deborah Cook, Diana Young and Brittany Lawson. Funeral service is scheduled for Friday, September 24, 2021 at 1pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove UMC Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation is planned for Thursday, September 23, 2021 4-8pm and Friday, September 24, 2021 10am until the hour of the service at the funeral home. A Masonic Service is scheduled for Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 6pm in the funeral home chapel. Masks would be appreciated for the visitation and for the funeral.
