Jackie Arden Dowdy, 82, of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021. Born in Guntersville, AL to the late Raymond and Flossie Dowdy, Mr. Dowdy graduated from MCHS, Class of ’57, and joined the US Navy in 1958. He was an active member of Marshall Masonic Lodge #209 since 1965. After retiring from US Army Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal, he and his wife, Gerda, enjoyed traveling worldwide. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Randall Dowdy. Survivors include his loving wife, Gerda; son, Ronald Campbell (Jackie); daughter, Sharon Light (Michael); brother, F. Ralph Dowdy (Ann); several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and friends statewide and abroad. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7th, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Brother Danny Hood officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Cemetery in Guntersville, AL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for children.
