Jack Randolph Wood, Sr., 93, Florence, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024. Visitation will be Saturday, January 13, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Guy Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Jack was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Tuscumbia, and a veteran of the US Naval Reserve and the US Army. He retired from the US Postal Service. Jack was an active member of the YMCA and a past member of the Exchange Club. Jack was a graduate of Florence State Teachers College, now UNA, where he was a founding member of the Band. He went on to play in the Shoals Community Band. Jack enjoyed playing golf and bridge, but his greatest joy was his family. They enjoyed camping, special trips, and family adventures together. Jack is the best father anyone could ask or pray for. He was a friend of many and will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, O. R. and Augusta Wood; sisters Dorothy Cade and Dean Walthal; and his infant brother.
Jack is survived by his wife, Tyler Wood; sons, Randy Wood (Victoria), Russell Wood (Sherry), Brett Wood (Sonya), and Joe Wood (Kelly); and grandchildren, Eva, Russ, Sam, Garrett, and Branden.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
