Jack D. Wilson – Obituary

Col. (Ret.) Jack D. Wilson quietly passed away at home on Sunday, surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in North Platte, NE. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1953 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 31 years. 

His army career included tours in Korea, Vietnam, Europe, the Middle East and across the United States. His military service ended at Redstone Arsenal, AL, as the director of the Missile Intelligence Agency. After retirement, he continued serving his country as a defense consultant and then as a member of senior management at Dynetics. 

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen; children, Elizabeth Bucy (Samuel), Jack Wilson Jr. (Christina), Martha Baines (Frank), and Amy King (James); seven grandchildren; two brothers; and a sister. 

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, May 19, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Paige Heard officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
