Jack Arthur Wallace, 83 of Cherokee, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Visitation will be Sunday, May 18, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Cherokee. The funeral service will be Monday, May 19, at 2:00 p.m. at Harris Chapel Baptist Church, Cherokee with Rev. Gatus Cheatum and Rev. Dwight Rivers officiating. Interment will be in Harris Chapel Cemetery.
Jack was a lifetime member of the Ironworkers Local 477 in Sheffield, AL and a lifelong member of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association. He also Co-founded the Cherokee Saddle Club. Jack was recognized in 2019 as Farm Family of Distinction and was a hard-working farmer. He served in the 492nd Army Reserve Military Police Division from 1964-1969. He enjoyed riding horses, traveling for mission trips and working around his farm after retirement. Jack started his iron working apprenticeship in 1970 and was named Outstanding Apprentice in 1972 and worked for Ironworkers until he retired in 2005 to the family farm. He was preceded in death by his father; James T. Wallace, mother; Francis Wallace and brother James Brice Wallace.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Edmondson Wallace; daughters, Melissa Wallace Hudson (Sean), Melinda Wallace Cosby; son, Michael P. Wallace (Jamie); brother, Jerald D. Wallace (Linda); sister-in-law, Barbara Wallace; grandchildren, Mark Cosby Jr., Matthew Cosby, Layla Wallace, Josie Hudson, Lydia Wallace and Liam Wallace; great-grandchildren, Amelia Cosby and Marco Cosby; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Wallace, Jay Wallace, Mark Wallace, Jason Borden, Rick Adams and Wade Turberville.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Cochran, Jimmy Tapp, Carlton Pugh and Jr. Williams
In lieu of flowers, send donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Harris Chapel Cemetery Fund.
