A memorial service for J.P. Moats, 79, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel with Tony Pepper officiating.
Mr. Moats, who died September 18, 2015, was born February 10, 1936, in Lawrence County to George Kyle Moats and Rena Hutson Moats. He was a guitar maker and was employed by Heritage Guitar, Inc. He attended Jones Chapel Congregational Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include sons, David Moats, Moulton and Kevin Moats (Julea), Decatur; daughters, Pam Moats and Lloyd Williams, Michigan, Doris McCorstin and Jimmy, Shelby County, Alabama, Theresa Moats, Michigan, Chrissy Moats and Mark Amsbaugh, Michigan; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jones Chapel Congregational Christian Church, Moulton.
