Funeral service for James “J.E.” Elbert Russell Jr., 91, of Decatur will be Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Danny Compton and Reverend Patrick Gunn officiating. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Russell Cemetery on George W. Russell Road in Decatur.
Mr. Russell died Saturday, April 8, 2017, at NHC Moulton. He was born Nov. 6, 1925, in Morgan County to James E. Russell Sr. and Agnes Lovelady Russell.
He is survived by three sons, Keith Russell, Kelvin Russell, both of Decatur, and Benny Russell of Athens; two daughters, Debbie Russell and Donna Russell, both of Decatur; one brother, Ray Russell of Florida; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Ray Dotson, Donald Pace, Kris Coolidge, Jackie McDougle, Kennan Smith, David Woodall and Brad Broodworth.
Honorary pallbearers will be former co-workers at Wolverine Tube.
In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to the J.E. and Nila Russell Scholarship fund for West Morgan Elementary School, Trinity.
