J.C. Scott – Obituary

JCJ.C. Scott, 92, passed away surrounded by his family, Monday, September 23, 2013. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Martha Ellen Scott. The family will receive friends at 10 AM Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Spry~Williams Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 11:30 with the Rev. Jon Hauerwas and the Rev. Dwayne McDuff officiating. Burial with military honors graveside will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Mr. Scott served in the US Army with the 113th Signal Radio Intelligence Company during WWII. He received the Jubilee of Liberty Medal given by France to honor his participation in the Normandy Invasion. He was an ordained Elder and Member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He retired after more than 30 years service from Reynolds Metals Company where he was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 760. He was devoted to his family and all of his grandchildren held a very special place in his heart. Mr. Scott is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Cathy Scott, of Killen, Alabama, a daughter and son-in-law Janice and Jerry Hauerwas of Aiken, SC, grandchildren, Jeff Hauerwas, Wilson, N.C., the Rev. Jon Hauerwas (Kara), Bellingham, Washington, Emily Reischman (Chris), Tanner, Alabama, Nick Hahn, Apopka, Florida, great-grandchildren, Chandler Hauerwas, Liam Hauerwas, and Elliot Reischman. In addition to his wife, Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Scott, mother, Josie Kennedy Scott, sister, Elaine Rainey, and granddaughter, Jennifer Camille Hauerwas. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. The family would like to epxress their appreciation for the devoted caregivers, especially Glenda May.
