J Bryan Gullette, Sr. (“JB” or “Gus”) was born October 8, 1933 in Jackson, Kentucky, the sixth child of John H. Gullette (1903-1976) and Jean L. Logan (1906-1990).

In 1950 JB joined the U.S. Air Force, following in the footsteps of his older brothers Johnny and Earl.  He remained 20 years, working in radar, spending tours in Morocco, Germany, Alaska, and Viet Nam.   He retired as Technical Sergeant (TSgt) in 1971.

In 1953 he married Linda Norton.  They had three children and divorced in 1981.   The family lived in Florida, Virginia, Germany, Montana, and Tennessee.  They enjoyed camping trips: from Germany they visited the Netherlands and Italy;  in Montana, they visited Glacier National Forest and camped by Saint Mary Lake.

When JB retired from the Air Force in 1971, they returned to Tennessee and settled in Nashville, Tennessee.  JB got a job with Kentucky Fried Chicken, first as Store Manager then as Warehouse Manager.  He was on the waiting list for the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked as a letter carrier for 21 years from 1973 to 1994, when he retired a second time.

He was a good man, devoted to his family and his country.  He enjoyed ping pong, bowling (he won several trophies), and golf.  He sang tenor in church choir for several years.  It warmed his heart to give donations to charities, friends in need, and the homeless.

He resided at the Mandolin Apartments in Nashville for 38 years before suddenly taking ill in September.  He died on October 15, 2018 at Mt. Juliet Nursing and Rehabilitation from coronary artery disease.

He is survived by his sisters Audrey Webb and Sue McGooden; his children J Bryan Gullette, Jr., Alan Gullette, and Cathy Edmundson; and his grandson, Tommy Griffin.

He will be missed.
