Ivory Lee Russell – Obituary

IvoryIvory Lee Russell, formerly of Decatur, passed away Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015 in Monroe, Louisiana at the age of 93. Mrs. Russell worked on her family farm until she met and married the love of her life, John Russell. They were married for 54 years before John went to be with the Lord. She and John raised two children, a son, Johnie and a daughter, Margie. Mrs. Russell loved to work in her garden and in her later years, enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the Joy of her life. Most importantly, Ivory gave her life to Christ at the age of nine years old and raised her children to know the Lord. She always wanted to be remembered as a woman who loved God and her family and friends with all her heart.
Mrs. Russell is survived by her son, Johnie, and wife Pat Russell; daughter, Margie, and husband Harris Segal; grandchildren, Tony Hill, Todd Hill, Tabitha Wilson and Jonathan Shirley and great-grandchildren, Leah Grissman, Dylan Hill, Hunter Hill, Racheal Rhoades, Rayna Wilson and Jacob Wilson.
She had a special love for her caregivers, Mary Crimes, Sharon Loyd, Leola Blackston, and Stacy Smith. Premier Hospice took awesome care of her this past year.
A Celebration of Life will be today, Dec. 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will in Roselawn Cemetery.
