Isaac Ward was born in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, to Isaac Ward Sr. and Alberta Ward. He was baptized at an early age and attended high school at Howard D. Woodson High School, graduating in June 1990. He later continued his education at Mitchell College, where he also played basketball.
While visiting home for his birthday, Isaac’s life changed after suffering a gunshot wound that left him paralyzed. Despite this hardship, he remained determined and made a meaningful life for himself. He worked with youth programs at a fitness and aquatics center in Maryland and later pursued higher education at Ashford University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies in November 2014. He went on to earn a Master of Arts in Organizational Management in 2016 from Ashford University’s Forbes Schools of Business.
Isaac had a deep love for writing poetry, and his final poem was written on the day of his passing.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Alberta Ward and his father, Isaac Ward Sr; his children, Kiani Ward and Gerard Parker; and his grandchildren, Ava Parker, Kennel McNeil, Kamden McNeil, and Gerard Parker Jr.; He is also survived by his aunts, Angel Meeks and Sandra Jefferson (Arnold). His uncle: Rembert Carter along with a host of cousins and other family members and friends who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Latonia Ward.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 3pm at Blackburn Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Huntsville with the Rev. Tramaine Snodgrass and the Rev. Dr. Pete Carter officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 2pm. Burial will follow the service and will be in Meadowlawn Garden of Peace.
