Iris Johnston Leigh, born October 20, 1928, passed peacefully from this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion that will be cherished for generations. Visitation will be Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 9-10 am at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a service to follow at 10 am in the chapel. Bro. Alan Beasley will be officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Iris was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Leigh; her parents, James Amos and Minnie Lee Johnston; and nine siblings—seven brothers and two sisters—whom she remembered fondly throughout her life.

She is survived by her children: Greg (Susan) Leigh, Tim (Bobbie Lou) Leigh, and Neva Leigh. She was a proud and loving “Granny” to Anthony Leigh, Marianne Leigh, Katri Leigh Howell, Rachel Leigh, and Max Leigh; and a delighted great grandmother to Carey Mae Leigh and Hadleigh Howell.

She is also survived by her brother, Dale (Shirley) Johnston, with whom she shared a lifelong bond. A long time member of Tuscumbia First Methodist Church, Iris lived her faith through quiet service and daily kindness. For many years, she volunteered in the Helen Keller Hospital gift shop, offering a warm smile, helping hand, and the gentle humor she was known for. Her wonderful sense of humor brought joy to those around her and remained one of her most endearing gifts.

Iris will be remembered for her gracious spirit, her dedication to family, and the laughter she brought into every room. Her love and strength continue on in all who were blessed to know her.
