Irene Underwood Bolton, 92, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Generations of Red Bay. She was born in Red Bay, AL to Dr. Floyd Richard Underwood and Mattie Lou McMurray Underwood. Irene received a Bachelor’s Degree at UNA and retired as a home economics teacher after twenty-five years. She taught at Red Bay High School for many years. She was a member of Red Bay Church of Christ and loved to sew, cook and work in her flower gardens.
Services will be Saturday, April 26, 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Alton Hester officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, April 26, 12-2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by four children, Lamar Bolton (Nancy), Raymond Bolton (Melanie), Laurel Turbyfill (Tony) and Julia Davis; five grandchildren, Brad Bolton (Melissa), Cheston Turbyfill, Aaron Shewbart (Katie), Adam Shewbart (Hope) and Lindsey Turbyfill Smith (Daniel) and seven great-grandchildren, Carsen Bolton, Trager Shewbart, Traysen Shewbart, Finley Smith, Emma Smith, Emily Shewbart and Charlotte Shewbart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Bolton, Sr.; her parents; a brother, John Richard Underwood and her twin sister, Pauline Underwood Orrick.
Pallbearers will be Brad Bolton, Aaron Shewbart, Cheston Turbyfill, Adam Shewbart, Daniel Smith and Trager Shewbart.
