Irene H. Nix – Obituary

Irene H. Nix, 80, of Phil Campbell, Alabama, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, after an extended illness. Born on July 2, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Velma Hutcheson. She was loved and adored by everyone who knew her including O.V. Nix, her husband of 63 years. Fondly remembered by many, she taught at Phil Campbell Elementary School for 28 years where she loved her students and fellow teachers. She was also active in her community and very involved in her church, Temple Baptist Church of Phil Campbell, for over 45 years.
Visitation for Mrs. Nix will be Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 P.M. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, Alabama. Services will follow in the funeral home chapel with Darryl Butts officiating. Pallbearers will include Robbie Tidwell, Tommy Young, Sean Young, Dylan Harris, Landon Hutcheson, and Drew Henderson. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Phil Campbell.
Mrs. Nix’s survivors, in addition to her husband O.V., include her son, Dale Nix and wife Wendy; and daughter, Connie Nix Harris and husband David of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. Five beautiful grandchildren whom she adored survive her: Neika Nix Morgan, Tuscaloosa; Nicole Nix Henderson (Drew), Tuscumbia; Jordan Harris, Allison Harris, and Dylan Harris, Clarks Summit. Her great grandchildren, Calvin, Cordelia, Isaiah, Ella, Christian, and Ava brought her great joy. Surviving siblings are Oscar, Wyatt, and Windell Hutcheson. Her generous spirit, warm affection, and passionate love for her family and friends will be sorely missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Velma Hutcheson; her brother, L.C. Hutcheson; and sisters, Arvie Young and Letha Davidson.
Her family wishes to express gratitude to special friends and family who have given selflessly to her in her time of need and illness.
