Sister Irene Chandler Funeral services for Sister Irene Chandler, age 89, are scheduled for 2 PM, Sunday, December 2, 2018 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill. Interment will follow in Chandler Family Cemetery. Sister Chandler passed away Thursday in Lexington. She was born January 30, 1929 in Perry County to the late Joe and Lottie Doyle Barham. Irene began her ministry by lay speaking in local churches in 1977 as she enrolled in school to become ordained in the Methodist Church. Five years later, she was appointed pastor to the Adamsville circuit, then the Saltillo circuit in 1990, and finally, the Sardis circuit in 1999. After 40 years of service, she retired in July of 2018. Irene was the epitome of selfless love and giving while expecting nothing in return. Whether as minister, counselor, comforter, artist, homemaker, friend, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, or great great grandmother, she sacrificially gave of herself so that others might have a better life. Survivors include her son, Tracy Chandler (Pam); two daughters, Stella Pratt (Tony) and Carolyn Chandler; one sister, Geneova Stevens; thirteen grandchildren, Michelle Wyatt (Alan), Jenny Nowell (Chris), Clay Chandler (Leah), Misty Greenway (Wesley), Kristy Pruitt(Chris), Wendy Welch (Tommy), Jeremy Pratt, Nicholas Pratt (Meagan), Nicole Pratt, Jill Davis (Shannon), Jennifer Rikard (Jon), Isaac Bradbury, and Hannah Bradbury; twenty-two great grandchildren, Chelsea Wyatt, Katie Wyatt, Dillon Nowell (Brianna), Hunter Nowell (Stephanie), Madison Nowell, Jake Chandler, Alex Chandler, Chandler Pruitt, Aniston Pruitt, Heath Greenway, Shana Welch, Shane Welch, Jared Welch, Madison Pratt, Brenden Pratt, Drea Stansell, Sebastain Pratt, Castiel Pratt, Ashlyn Davis, Micah Scates, Jayden Scates,Zayden Rikard; and one great –great grandchild, Rowyn Nowell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Mack Chandler; one son, Michael Chandler; one daughter, Velda Creasy; and two sisters, Ruby Jo O’Connor and Josephine Head.
