Mr. Ira Ellis “Chick” Thompson, 86, of Florence passed away on February 28, 2017 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. He was a job steward for 23 years with the United Automobile Workers in Detroit. He retired as a Tool and Die maker for Tri Cities Manufacturing. He was a very dedicated and loving father who worked hard all his life to provide for his family. He enjoyed all his friends that he walked with at the Florence Mall.
There will be a graveside service in Greenview Memorial Park on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby J. Thompson.
Survivors include his son, Mark Ira Thompson (Tammy Vaughn) of Muscle Shoals, AL., sisters, Iva Folger of Lawrenceburg, TN and Frances Parker of Durham, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
