ATHENS – A legacy industry in the city of Athens, Alabama, is planning to invest more than $3 million on a capital investment project.

The Athens City Council approved on Monday a property and sales tax abatement for Tenneco, formerly Federal-Mogul, to improve their operation lines. This investment will help Tenneco stay competitive in their market. The capital investment will total $3,169,000.
Limestone County Economic Development Association President & CEO Bethany Shockney is encouraged by the news from Tenneco.
“It’s always a great day when an existing industry wants to expand their operations here in Limestone County,” Shockney said. “I appreciate the City of Athens Mayor’s Office and City Council for their work on this project.”
Athens Mayor Ronnie Marks echos the excitement around this expansion.
“It is great news for Athens when an existing industry like Tenneco makes an investment to further strengthen its presence in our city,” Marks said.
