Ina Ruth KingIna Ruth King, 98 years of age, passed away on November 11, 2021.
She was born January 15, 1923, to the late Charles Edward King and Rhoda Carena Lindsey King in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.

A Maury County native, Ina was a graduate of Columbia High School. In the early 1940s, after graduation, Ina courageously moved to Nashville where she made her life and established her 40-year career with National Life and Accident Insurance Company, later to become American General. During her time there, Ina rose through the ranks, ultimately becoming proficient with computers in the early days of the company’s use of them, to the point of becoming the employee entrusted with being the after-hours, on-call employee for any computer problems that might occur.

In addition to her successful career path, Ina was a longtime active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Nashville, including being a member of the Jo King Circle for many years.

Ina was a very active individual and took advantage of the opportunities to learn sports such as bowling and golf, participating in her company bowling league, or enjoying a round of golf with friends or family members. Not only did she enjoy playing sports, but she also enjoyed spectating, especially cheering on her favorite golfer, Tiger Woods, or her Tennessee Titans. Ina was talented at Bridge and continued to enjoy playing the game with new friends she made as she moved to her Independent/Assisted Living Facility.

Ina loved traveling and the memories she shared included trips to the beach, to Washington D.C., New York City, and many other locales.

A woman of many talents, Ina was an expert with a needle which she used in her hobbies of knitting, cross-stitch, and embroidery, even teaching some of these skills to her nieces and nephews. Ina loved collecting cookbooks and would often read them as one might read a novel.

Ina loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them. Likewise, her family and friends will always cherish the sweet memories and treasure the legacy she leaves behind.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Carena Lindsey King; siblings: Josephine King and James King; brother-in-law: Earl Cochran; niece: Patricia “Pattie” Parsons.
