  Mrs. Imogene "Gene" Collier RainsImogene “Gene” Collier Rains, age 94, has a new address as of Thursday, December 14, 2023. She has been warmly welcomed into a beautiful new mansion in Heaven, prepared specifically for her by Jesus Himself, who said “where I am, you may be also.” John 14:3

She was born on August 15, 1929, to the late Leonard and Thelma Collier. Imogene was a faithful member of the Albertville First Baptist Church, having joined the congregation at the tender age of 11. Around 1958 she left to help plant Southside Baptist Church. Then returned to First Baptist in 1978.

Imogene is survived by her loving son, Quimby Rains (Kathy Jane); devoted daughter, Kathy Jean Rains; grandchildren, Lindy Rains Hughes (Kevin), Chery Rains Carrigan (Chris), Audry Rains Lacy (Gary Sr.), Collier Pressnell (Laura) and her 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Genell Collier Cash; sister-in-law, Gaye Collier Lunsford, and a host of wonderful nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Imogene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Virgil Preston Rains, and her brother, Carl D. Collier.

A Celebration of Life service in honor of Imogene will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Albertville. The family will be accepting friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Assisting Imogene to her final resting place at Memory Hill Cemetery will be Kevin Hughes, Chris Carrigan, Gary Lacy, Sr., Jeff Collier, Jon O’Neal, Michael Rains, Wes Greer, and Will Carpenter for a private family graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be sent to Advance 2023 c/o First Baptist Church of Albertville (https://albertvillefbc.church/) or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (https://www.jdrf.org/).

Imogene Collier Rains will be remembered as loving, accepting and caring for many. Always positive with a zest for life and humor… laughing so hard til everyone’s belly ached! Her bright mind was a light and inspiration influencing the lives around her. Her continued interest in world events led to great discussions. The Special Sisterhood between her and her sister was beautiful. Her steadfast faith in the Lord was a blessing to all.
