Ida Pauline Johnson, age 87, of Columbia, TN, died Monday, July 8, 2013. Mrs. Johnson’s family will receive friends Wednesday, 1-2 p.m. at Woodward Ave. Baptist Church. Her funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary with Michael Cummings officiating. Immediately following, the burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Johnson was a Tuscumbia native and long-time resident of Muscle Shoals. Polly was a member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church, where she served many years as the church hostess and was a member of the Gleaner Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and Southern Railway Ladies Club. She enjoyed being a homemaker and cooking for family and friends. Polly loved animals, especially her cat “Shallie”. She enjoyed all the time spent traveling with close friends from church.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy T. Johnson and great granddaughter, Madeline Jane Cumbie.
She is survived by her daughters; Cindy Johnson Kington and husband Joe of Columbia, TN, Nancy Johnson Cumbie and husband Peter of York, SC; grandchildren, Michael David Cumbie, William Patrick Cumbie, Laura Catherine Kington, Steven Paul Kington; great-grandchildren, William Patrick Cumbie, Jr., Ada McLean, Michael David Cumbie, Jr., and Mary Camden Cumbie.
Pallbearers are Peter Cumbie, Joe Kington, David Cumbie, Patrick Cumbie and Steven Kington.
