Ida Mae McCollumIda Mae McCollum, affectionately known as Toni, was born on May 24, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed away on April 24, 2024, in Anniston, Alabama.

Her life was a beautiful tapestry of love and devotion to her family and friends.

Toni is survived by her loving daughter Dawn Evans and son-in-law Thomas (Tommy) Evans. She was also adored by her granddaughter Shirley Brown and her husband Joshua (Josh) Brown, and Angie McCombs, beloved wife of Dean “Deano” McCombs. She cherished her great-grandchildren , who called her GiGi, who brought immeasurable joy into her life Landon Dotson, Crimson Brown, Tristan Brown, Alexus Brown, and Hannah McCombs. As well as several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Toni’s heart overflowed with love for each one of them.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Madeline Guile; brothers, Arthur (Mike) Guile Jr, James (Jimmy) Guile, Jacob Guile, and Jerry Guile; sister Mildred (Butch) Wheeler; grandson Sammy Dean McCombs Jr (Deano); and great-grandson Samuel Dean McCombs.

She had an unwavering faith in God that guided her through life’s trials and triumphs. Her kindness knew no bounds as she touched the lives of many through her work as an amazing beautician. Whether it was a comforting touch or a listening ear during their time in the salon chair – she made everyone feel special and remind them, Beauty is pain. Toni had a passion for exploring new places around the world; every adventure brought joy into her life. But above all else were her fur babies: Bunnie, Maddy, and Esther – who provided endless companionship throughout the years. Her bond with Shopper, the bird who held a special place in Toni’s heart; their bond was truly incomparable; they shared a unique connection that brought light into each other’s lives every day.

Visitation for Ida (Toni) McCollum will be held at Meadowbrook Baptist Church on Saturday May 4th from 2:00 PM onwards followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM where we’ll celebrate Toni’s extraordinary journey through this world. The loss of Toni leaves behind an indelible mark on all who knew her – she will be remembered for the love she shared with everyone around her. May she rest in peace knowing that she is deeply loved and missed beyond measure.
