I.E. Cooper – Obituary

IEFuneral for I.E. Cooper, 88, of Decatur will be Friday, December 20, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jackie Kay officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Cooper, who died Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at NHC Moulton, was born November 7, 1925, in Crossville to Jesse Elbert and Ira Lillan Cooper. He was a World War II Marine veteran serving in the 2nd Marine Division and was the owner of Cooper Furniture and Appliance retiring in 1998 after 51 years in retail sales. He was a member of Central Park Baptist Church and the Gene Lentz Sunday school class. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Hoyt Cooper.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Etta Cooper, whom he married April 17, 1948; one son, Mark Elbert Cooper, MD (Dixie) of Nashville, Tenn.; one daughter, Debra Cooper Glass (Villard) of Florence; two brothers, James Cooper and Charles Cooper; two sisters, Lucille McBrayer and Hazel Smith; four grandchildren, Wesley Glass (Jessica) of Nashville, Ryan Glass of Florence, McKenzie Cooper and Isaac Cooper of Nashville; and one great-grandchild, Linley Glass of Nashville.

Pallbearers will be Steve Stovall, James Owens, David Whitten, Don Fields, Jackie Derrick and Greg Richard.

Honorary pallbearers will be active deacons of Central Park Baptist and Alton Burrow and Jimmy Mears.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
