MONTGOMERY – Rodney Smith, founder of Raising Men and Raising Women Lawn Care Service, on Monday will mow the lawn at the State Capitol. This comes ahead of the America 250 Alabama Celebration Governor Kay Ivey is hosting Thursday, May 21.

“Lawn Mower Man” Rodney Smith
Rodney Smith attended Governor Ivey’s state of the state address as a special guest this past January. There the governor announced Smith would be returning to the Capitol this spring to mow the lawn.
“Being invited by Governor Kay Ivey to mow at the Alabama State Capitol truly fulfills a dream of mine,” said Smith. “As someone who has traveled across all 50 states serving communities, it means so much to receive this kind of support and recognition from the governor of my home state, the great state of Alabama. I’m incredibly grateful for Governor Ivey’s leadership and for the ways she continues moving Alabama forward. As we approach the America 250 celebration, I believe this moment represents the spirit of service, community and pride that makes both Alabama and this country so special. It is an honor to represent Alabama and continue making a difference one lawn at a time.”
Governor Ivey will greet Rodney Smith upon his arrival, and then he will get to work on the grass.
