WASHINGTON, D.C. –Wednesday night, July 15, Sue Zupko, who teaches gifted classes at Weatherly Heights Elementary School, was honored at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Teacher at Sea Program 25th Anniversary Celebration and Awards Ceremony. Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) presented the Teacher At Sea award to Ms. Zupko. NOAA and Chief Scientist Dr. Richard Spinrad presented NOAA Teacher at Sea awards to its ten most deserving United States alumni for demonstrating excellence in science education and their unwavering dedication to NOAA research. As part of the Teacher at Sea program, Zupko sailed aboard the NOAA Ship Pisces in 2011, and the NOAA Ship Henry B. Bigelow in 2014.
