Mr. Hulon J. Smith Mr. Hulon J. Smith, age 86, of Union Grove, passed to his heavenly home on Thursday, January 2nd, 2020.
The son of the late Jessie T. Smith and Betty Yancey Smith, Hulon was born July 7th, 1933 in Etowah County. Mr. Smith proudly served his country as a military policeman in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Killene, Texas. After serving in the military, Hulon began a thirty-six year long career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked as a walking letter carrier in Boaz, a rural letter carrier in Union Grove, and received the Million Mile Club Award for one million miles on the job with zero accidents. He was a loving and kind, husband, father, and grandfather, but more importantly, he was a Christian man, who was always willing to help those that God put in his path and was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, Gregory Lane Smith and Terry Wayne Smith; and one brother, James Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Treva Joan Leeth Smith, one daughter, Hulonda Glass (Bob); two sisters, Gaynelle White and Bonnie Sanders; three grandchildren, Tiffany Smith, Brandon Smith, and Jessie Self; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 10th, 2020 at Sweet Home Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Bro. Wayne White and Bro. Tim Lynch officiating.
The family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made in lieu of flowers to Sweet Home Baptist Church, 1474 Union Grove Road, Guntersville, Alabama 35976
