Hugh Patrick “Pat” Barnett, of Trenton, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on April 4, 2025. A devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, loving brother, and steadfast friend, Pat was a well-known and deeply respected figure in the Edison and Trenton communities.

Though his address was in Trenton, Pat’s roots ran deep in Edison, where he built his life, worked the land, and left behind a lasting legacy in farming. Known for his towering presence, booming voice, and strong work ethic, Pat was both a businessman and a lifelong farmer. In addition to farming, he also had a passion for selling cars and was always on the lookout for a good deal. He loved the challenge and satisfaction of business, and he brought the same dedication and energy to every venture.

Pat stayed positive through every challenge, including his health battles in later years. He was not one to speak openly about his feelings, but his love was always clear through his loyalty, consistency, and actions. He was always helping others, never met a stranger, and made everyone around him feel welcome. Pat’s natural positivity and quick wit could light up a room—he made people smile effortlessly, even in hard times.

Widely described as a pillar of the community, Pat’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Norma Lewis Barnett; his children: Scott (Holly) Barnett of Trenton, Kim (DJ) Brewer of Bells, Jeanna (Tony) Taylor of Trenton, and Sandi (Scotty) McCartney of Bradford. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Hayden Barnett, Cole Barnett, Dylan Morris, Peyton Brewer, Jacob Taylor, and Zachary Taylor.

Pat is also survived by his sisters, Annie Sue Mathis of Martin and Betty Smith of Trenton; his lifelong friend, Richard Jones of Trenton; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Cooper Barnett and Lola Mae Barrix.

Pallbearers will be Hayden Barnett, Cole Barnett, Jacob Taylor, Zachary Taylor, Mark Yarbrough, and Chris Plunkett.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Pat’s memory.
